Walsall boss Jon Whitney has stated today that he hopes to bring in at least three new faces in the January window but admits that people must be patient as he tries to identify the right players.

Whitney has lost defenders Shaun Donnellan and James Wilson, winger Zeli Ismail and striker Daniel Agyei back to their parent clubs with striker Tyler Roberts also set to leave the club.

Whitney has identified a centre back, a winger and a striker as his main targets during this window and insists he will bide his time.

Whitney told the Express and Star,

“We need another centre-half to come in, we need something out wide and something up top,” the boss said. “We have our targets and we are also still looking.

“I have learned over the last couple of years that sometimes you can jump too early so we will wait and we will be patient. But if the right one comes along we will see what we can do.”

With all five loanees leaving the club you would hope Whitney has more targets identified than just the three mentioned.
