Walsall Football Club have today confirmed that tomorrow’s planned open training session has been cancelled.
The club left a brief statement on the official site stating that the current position left them with no option but to cancel it.
Yesterdays defeat to Wycombe saw the Saddlers four points adrift from safety with two games remaining.
Many supporters took to Twitter and Facebook to label the club ‘cowards’, many parents also voicing their anger towards the club for denying their children the chance to meet the players and some say the club had no other option than to cancel it as it would be a bad atmosphere for the children.
Here are a few tweets from disgruntled Saddlers fans….
Again alienating young fans from connecting with the club. It's the Easter holidays and would have seen hundreds of youngsters turn up (some not even Walsall fans). Typical response from this club, radio silent when the going gets tough rather than face the music

1/2 ………and yet the fans will still purchase season tickets, turn up in numbers, get excited when a new manager is appointed, get excited when we sign a couple of players, cries of “get behind the lads”, get excited if we’re anywhere near the play offs, increase in gates etc

The open training sessions are basically an event for kids to meet their heroes. @WFCOfficial you have reached a new low!

Rather telling that the apology is for inconvenience rather than "recent results, and the current position we find ourselves in" #StrongerTogether #MyClubMyTown #YourClub https://t.co/7czpBz4rz3

I know the club get stick regardless of what they do, but this is probably a sensible decision. https://t.co/y5ookEnXZX

You can understand both sides to the argument however one things for sure, the cancellation of the event a day before its due to take place will leave many parents facing the prospect of letting their children down at the very last minute.
Its safe to say it’s not been a great season both on and off the pitch.
