Is the MK Dons game that crucial

Is the MK Dons game really make or break?.

If we lose will we have blown our promotion chances?.

Well no, we would still have a great chance of going up. However I won’t argue that a defeat wouldn’t make things that little bit more nervous.I think we’re almost at the stage now where we can say that 5 wins out of 8 will get us promoted with our goal difference.

If you consider our goal difference as an extra point it is realistic to say another 5 wins out of 8 would put us mathmatically beyond Stockport, and leave Swindon needing 21 points from 9, and Lincoln 21 points from 8!! That’s a talll order in any ones books. That is approximate to 7 wins each. So bearing in mind they play each other on sunday also that makes there game much more crucial.

So is 5 wins from here good enough, and in all posibility four wins will probably be enough. So yets say we will lose at Swindon on last day and MK Dons on sunday, we would need to find the points from home games against Hereford, Accrington, Bury and Wrexham. Also with away trips to Torquay and Notts County……well and truely it’s in our own hands even if we lose on Sunday.

Compare that to MK Dons who play in form Grimsby, unbeaten Darlington, and Accrington at home (on the last day which maybe a must win game for both teams), whilst visiting Hereford, play contenders Shrewsbury and Stockport and Wycombe. If they win on Sunday they would need 15 points to finish above my predicted total, another 5 wins.Lincoln’s next 3 fixtures after Sunday are Rochdale away, Stockport at home, and Darlington away.

So in fact our ‘must win’ games are the ones against Bury, Accrington, Wrexham and Hereford rather than Sunday where a win would just be a massive bonus and a point very welcome. If we slip up at home we have Torquay and Notts County to make up with….anyway there is a chance both those games will have more Saddlers than home fans.

So have your say in our new poll on the front page.
