Walsall have been dealt bad news that defender James O’Connor is a major doubt for Saturday’s home game against Chesterfield.
O’Connor limped off during Saturday’s victory over Burton however it was hoped it was a precaution. O’Connor has not trained with the Saddlers all week due to a groin injury and looks certain to miss the game.
O’Connor has been in superb form this season, in a defence which has only conceded six league goals in twelve.
Matt Preston looks set to deputise for him.
