Saddlers on Tour to Bury

Well my first memory of a trip to Bury was my first encounter of a walk round ground. It was my first experience of the fans changing ends as well as the teams. In those days the car park was ‘inside’ the ground and it was quite strange seeing the two sets of fans staring each other out as the crossed on the car park.

Things have got better at Bury even if our ability to get results there hasn’t. The major shock to the system is we are now placed in the end which was reserved for the home fans. The roof means that even a few away fans can make themselves heard. The fact it holds 2,500 also means pleanty of space for us on a mid week jaunt.

A lot of work was carried out in the 90’s which saw the development of a couple of new stands which means the Bury ground of my first visit is just a distance memory.
