Walsall will face Dutch giants Ajax at the Banks’s Stadium on Thursday 19th July according to the Ajax Twitter account.

Ajax will face local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Banks’s Stadium on that date also.

Wolves will face Ajax at 3pm with the Saddlers facing Ajax at 7:45pm. You would imagine Ajax will field a mixed team for both fixtures.

Ajax are one of the biggest European sides in history winning the European Cup on four occasions and winning the Dutch title on thirty-three occasions and former players most notably include Johann Cruyff, Frank Rijkaard, Marco Van Basten Edgar Davids and more recently Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Dennis Bergkamp.

Ajax finished second in the Dutch Eredivisie last season under manager Erik Ten Hag.

The likes of Klaas Van Huntelaar, Siem De Jong and hottest prospect Justin Kluivert will all grace the Banks’s turf.

Walsall confirmed fixtures

Thursday 19th July – Walsall v Ajax (7:45pm)

Saturday 28th July – Cheltenham v Walsall (3pm)

  • Hi. Sorry to mildly disappoint the Saddlers fans, but this will be a young Ajax side presented at Bescot..the big names will have all been sold by then…it’s the U19’s from last season who’ll catch the eye….wish I could be there…but distance prevents this! enjoy!!!!
