Whitney Closing In On More Signings?

Walsall boss Jon Whitney has today confirmed he has already sat down with a few potential new signings and suggested ‘some’ of the negotiations have gone further down the line – as he looks to add more new faces to his squad with the season just twelve days away.

Whitney has already recruited nine new signings ahead of the new season but still feels there are gaps in his squad which need replacements.

Speaking to Express and Star, Whitney said

“I have spoken to a couple and had a couple of one-to-ones.’

“Some have gone a bit further down the line. Some I have not taken forward. But again, I`m not going to rush into it.’

‘A lot of the players I am looking at are not free agents so I am looking at players who are fit and have done pre-season.’

‘A couple I am still looking at, but they have to be the right people.”
